Statement condemning the assault on journalist Mojali Al-Samadi in Sana’a
Mayyun Organization for Human Rights condemns the beating of journalist Mojali Al-Samadi, director of “Voice of Yemen” radio, by 5 armed members of the Houthi group on Thursday evening, August 24, near his house in Al-Safia district in Sana’a, according to what he posted on his personal account on the X platform.
At the same time, we express our solidarity with Al-Samadi as a result of this attack, which came against the backdrop of his writings on social media platforms, in a flagrant violation of the right to expression.
This attack indicates the Houthi group’s insistence on silencing mouths, especially as it was preceded by its confiscation and closure of the “Voice of Yemen” radio station, and its refusal to return radio equipment and resume radio broadcasting despite a court ruling to that effect.
