Statement condemning the trial of YouTubers in Sana’a for criticizing corruption
Mayyun Organization condemns the Houthi authorities’ trial of four YouTube activists in Sana’a, who are Mustafa Al-Momari, Ahmed Hajar, Ahmed Allaw, and Hammoud Al-Misbahi Wednesday January 11, 2023 for criticizing the rampant corruption through their personal channels.
The policy of silencing the mouths of journalists and activists on the Internet with campaigns of mass arrests outside the law and conducting mass mock trials on fabricated charges is a flagrant violation of freedom of expression in Yemen.
As the organization denounces what was stated in the indictment against the “Youtubers” in the first session of their trial; The Human Rights Council and offices of international organizations operating in Yemen call for explicit condemnations of these repressive practices, and the international community is concerned to take firm measures to stop these farcical trials and ensure that they do not recur.
