A statement of solidarity with women victims of violations in Yemen
Since the outbreak of the conflict, women in Yemen have been living in a tragic situation, where the number of violations against women is at the forefront of human rights violations in Yemen. They are deprived of equality in dignity and rights.
The organization has documented grave violations against women, especially those living in areas controlled by the Houthi group, most notably murder, forced disappearance, kidnapping, assault inside prisons, displacement, deprivation of education, denial of access to health care, marriage of minors, and restriction of freedom of movement, in addition to their exposure to the threat of kidnapping and killing simply for expressing their opinions on social media. Social Media.
The organization also confirms the presence of hundreds of rural women who daily face the danger of mines planted by the Houthi group on the roads and farms. Hundreds of others also suffer from psychological and moral violence as a result of the loss of their children who were recruited by the Houthi group and are on the front lines of the battle.
On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Mayyun Organization renews its solidarity with women victims of violations in Yemen during the years of conflict, which the organization considers a threat to the security and stability of society as a whole.
While we reject violence against Yemeni women in all its forms and types by any party, we stress the necessity for civil society organizations, United Nations offices in Yemen, and the rest of the international organizations to put pressure on the Houthi group to release hundreds of female detainees, work for their safety, and not endanger their dignity.
