Mayyun Organization for Human Rights and Masam Project to clear Yemeni lands of mines concluded on Friday, October 27, 2023, a photo exhibition in the city of Aden under the slogan “Let’s Move.” “Together to protect children affected by conflict.” The photographic exhibition focused on highlighting the patterns of violations and crimes against childhood victims of child recruitment and the planting of mines and explosives, to put local and international public opinion before the reality of the tragic situation of childhood in Yemen and draw the attention of the United Nations to the danger of continuing child recruitment and planting of mines in Yemen

The exhibition’s activities included the display of documentary films, awareness flashes, visual content, and explanatory texts, recording the facts of the violations by time, place, type of violation, and names of the victims. It also included posters and pictures introducing the international campaign and introducing the six grave violations of children’s rights. . The head of the Mayyun Organization explained in a press statement that this exhibition comes in response to the international campaign launched by the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Children and Armed Conflict under the slogan (Take action to protect children affected by conflicts). He noted that this joint effort between the organization and Masam Project comes within the framework of effective intra-partnerships of organizations and projects working in the Yemeni arena and presenting and highlighting their tangible contribution in defense of human rights, especially the right to life.

The opening of the exhibition event witnessed the presence of representatives of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Aden, the United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA), Handicap International (HI), the American Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC), the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, and a number of leaders. Local human rights organizations and a number of activists and media professionals. The opening of the exhibition was also attended by directors of executive offices of the local authority in Aden, the representative of the Arab coalition in Aden, Colonel Mohammed Al-Anzi, the head of the Supreme Military and Security Committee of the internationally recognized Yemeni government, Major General Haitham Qasim Taher, and a number of members of the committee.
