Mayyun Organization condemns the detention and confiscation of property of forcibly displaced opponents of the Houthis
We condemn in the strongest terms the Houthi group’s inauguration of a new phase of detention of immovable property of forcibly displaced persons from their homes located in its areas of control. It affirms that these unjustified violations came after exhausting all means of blackmailing the victims’ relatives in the name of the war effort, strengthening the fronts, forcing them to sign documents of abandoning them and taking any measures against them.
We deplore the official announcement by the armed group on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 AD, inaugurating these illegal repressive measures, which have serious consequences for the victims, which amount to a serious violation of international humanitarian law. We call on the United Nations and the Human Rights Council to condemn these violations and work to provide protection for all the money and property that the forcibly displaced leave behind.
