MAYYUN condemns the raid on the UN Human Rights Office in Sana’a.
“Mayyuun Human Rights Organization strongly condemns the armed Houthi group’s raid on the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights’ office in Sana’a, and the subsequent confiscation of office property, including equipment and documents.
These irresponsible actions, targeting a UN office, come just days after threats issued by the armed group during meetings of its Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs with representatives of international organizations operating in Yemen.
This escalation necessitates a firm stance from the UN and the international community, highlighting the risks posed by the continued Houthi escalation over the past two months, which has targeted UN offices, local and international organizations, and their staff.
Expressing our deep concern over the Houthis’ access to the identities of victims who provided testimonies to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights’ team, we join the High Commissioner’s call for the immediate and unconditional release of all UN staff detained in Yemen.
